Designer: Woodio

The composite, a mix of fossil-based polyester and bioplastic resins, ensures waterproof and durable properties. Woodio emphasizes sustainability with a claim of 99% fewer emissions during production than ceramics. The innovative approach significantly reduces water and energy usage, circumventing the high heat requirements of traditional ceramic manufacturing. However, emission claims exclude considerations of material sourcing and disposal impacts.

Designer: Marco Carini for Agape

Italian brand Agape’s bathroom seating collection, designed by Marco Carini, prioritizes comfort and sustainability. Featuring two designs crafted from recycled cork, the Vis-à-vis stool serves as a lightweight and sturdy option with a distinctive cylindrical form, while also doubling as a side table. In 2024, the integration of speakers and bathtub trends emphasizes luxury, comfort, and style, seamlessly combining relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether it’s a freestanding tub with smart temperature control or a built-in soaking tub surrounded by mood lighting, bathtubs serve as the foundation for ultimate luxury.

Designer: Lush

Lush’s upcoming “digital bath bomb,” Bath Bot, is set to revolutionize bath time. Resembling traditional bath bombs, it’s a waterproof speaker that can be placed in the bath or near the shower. With customizable full-spectrum lights in colors like lavender and pink, Bath Bot creates a spa or rave atmosphere. The compact device also features tiny bubbles for an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

8. Spa-style Bathroom

Over the past few years, the movement to transform primary bathrooms into in-home spas has gained momentum. Steam showers, towel heaters, massaging shower heads, soaker tubs, and heated floors are increasingly sought-after features. The concept of a bathroom being not only aesthetically pleasing and functional but also serving as a personal spa represents one of the latest trends. Additionally, bathrooms are transforming into areas that promote mindfulness and provide moments to unwind and relax after a long day.

Designer: Kohler

]]>

We may not pay attention to our bathrooms very often, but the truth is they’re the little alcoves we spend a substantial amount of our time in, carrying out our personal activities. It’s probably the only time we’re ever truly alone, and bathrooms are like our own personal zones. Hence amping up our bathroom with the correct accessories and products is quite important. These accessories can make a huge difference in our everyday bathroom experience, and we’ve curated a collection of unique and useful accessories for you. From a bath bot by Lush to high-quality Japanese towels – these are the accessories you need for the ultimate bathtime.

1. The Bath Bot

Designed by Lush, the Bath Bot is designed to be your very own “digital bath bomb”, that will provide you with a “custom light, sound, and color experience” every time you take a bath.

Why is it noteworthy?

It’s the same size and shape as their bath bombs but is a water-proof speaker that you can put in the bathtub with you or on the sink near your shower if you don’t have a bathtub.

What we like

 • It offers a 180-degree sound show so you can play your favorite music audiobook or podcast while enjoying a bath

What we dislike

 • It’s not yet available yet, so we hope the product will live up to its description

2. Smart Bathtub

Cloudandco Design Studio created a Smart Bathtub, which has been specifically customized to provide comfort and automated relaxation. The bathtub doesn’t simply offer a bath, but it also gives a personalized massage experience.

Why is it noteworthy?

The personalized massage experience is learned from the user’s preferences over time. This ensures that bath time is a perfectly tailored and blissful activity for you!

What we like

 • The embedded artificial intelligence ensures that specific areas of your discomfort are addressed

What we dislike

 • Not everyone may be comfortable having AI integrated into their personal bath routine

3. Japarcana Imabari Towels

The Japarcana Imabari towels are a delicate and premium-quality solution to the annoying problem of finding A-grade towels at a reasonable and economical price.

Why is it noteworthy?

Simple and time-proven weaving techniques, high-quality cotton, and strict quality standards all come together to create a towel with excellent water absorption, soft texture, and long-lasting durability.

What we like

 • Uses an ukiyo-e illustration depicting traditional Japanese baths, indicating the towel’s primary function
 • Pretty economical and well-priced compared to other premium towels on the market

What we dislike

4. The Kohler Sprig Shower Infusion System

The Kohler Sprig Shower Infusion System retrofits into your existing shower with ease, diffusing aromatherapy into the water, and creating a relaxing and comforting bathing experience for you.

Why is it noteworthy?

Kohler is building on this system with a range of pods that offer a variety of fragrances like eucalyptus, chamomile, rose, lavender, and lemongrass, along with minerals and ingredients that are supposedly good for your skin, like hyaluronic acid and sodium.

What we like

 • The pods utilize paraben-, phthalate-, and cruelty-free ingredients

What we dislike

 • You can only utilize Sprig Shower Pods with this system, and there’s currently no way of breaking away from Kohler’s tight ecosystem

5. usmile Y10 Pro

Dubbed the usmile Y10 Pro, this cutting-edge device is designed to provide you with an excellent and elevated dental care experience. It merges advanced technology with user-friendly features, providing you with a bright and healthy smile

 • Aesthetics are quite similar to other electric toothbrushes on the market, nothing too unique

6. The VEAU LED Mask

Designed by COZCORE, this new-age LED mask is meant to revolutionize skincare practices. The innovative product utilizes LED technology to offer users an effective and personalized skincare experience.

Why is it noteworthy?

The VEAU LED Mask is a premium facial mask that uses light therapy to improve the health and look of the skin. It has an ergonomic shape that fits the curves of the face gently, allowing for a relaxing and effective treatment.

What we like

 • Features multiple modes, so you can pick your favorite LED light colors based on your unique skincare needs
 • Can be folded, so users can wear it with ease and comfortably

What we dislike

 • We’re not fully aware of any side effects the mask could have on the skin

7. MYCO-ALGA

If you’re in the mood to redesign your bathroom, then you may want to consider the MYCO-ALGA interior tiling system, which is made from natural and organic waste, that has been upcycled together with actual living organisms.

Why is it noteworthy?

There are different sustainable processes involved in coming up with this including designing them digitally, 3D printing, growing the organisms, enriching them with bio-pigments, fabrication, etc. It begins with the waste materials being ground into a paste-like substrate as a foundation.

What we like

 • Strong and rigid yet lightweight
 • 100% sustainable

What we dislike

 • May not complement bathrooms with modern interiors

8. Tiles Weight Scale

Called the Tiles Weight Scale, this bathroom scale is quite literally bathroom-inspired. It features a glossy, tiled design and would fit well with modern contemporary bathrooms.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Tiles Weight Scale looks like a panel of your quintessential ceramic bathroom tiles. They aren’t made from ceramic, which means they aren’t slippery, and the white panel has an LED display that shines through the material, activating the moment you stand on it.

What we like

 • Blends right into the bathroom’s decor when not in use

What we dislike

 • It’s a concept currently, so we’re not sure how well it would translate to a real tangible product

9. one&done

With the one&done, the designer integrates and combines a toothbrush and a candy dispenser. Inspired by a PEZ dispenser, the toothbrush features a convenient little storage space to hold toothpaste tablets, completely eliminating the need for toothpaste tubes.

Why is it noteworthy?

This allows you to carry your toothbrush and toothpaste in one compact form and prevents the mess that ensues with carrying and dealing with a tube of toothpaste.

What we like

 • Ensures that you use the right amount of toothpaste every day, something that isn’t easily achieved when you’re squeezing paste out of a tube

What we dislike

 • The toothbrush is pretty thick and may be difficult to brush with and carry out different motions to clean your teeth

10. Face à face

Italian bathroom brand Agape teamed up with French architect Jean Nouvel to create this beautiful collection of sinks and baths. The name Face à face is derived from the dual meaning of the word ‘face’ in French.

Why is it noteworthy?

The collection essentially consists of a stunning sink and a bathtub. Both products have a pretty angular feel to them and are highlighted by upright slabs of marble, as well as a tilted backrest in the tub.

What we like

 • The collection truly celebrates the beauty of marble
 • Comes in various versions to choose from

What we dislike

 • Space-consuming designs that are better suited for larger bathrooms

Taking a bath is a functional experience that we all have almost every day. There are of course people who get bored when in the shower or in the bath tub so they do something else like singing in the shower, listening to music or podcasts, or even having a mini dance party just to relieve the routine. If you have a bathtub, adding a bath bomb every once in a while can make you feel like you’re at a bubble party. What if you could have all of these experiences using just one device?

Designer: Lush

Lush is a brand that you wouldn’t normally associate with gadgets or devices but it is closely co-related with taking a bath. They are set to release their very own “digital bath bomb” called Bath Bot which will be able to give you a “custom light, sound, and colour experience” whenever you take a bath. Basically it’s the same size and shape of their bath bombs but is actually a water-proof speaker that you can put in the bathtub with you or on the sink near your shower if you don’t have a bathtub.

The Bath Bot will give you a 180-degree sound show so you can play your favorite music or audio book or podcast while enjoying a bath. If you want more of a colorful mode, you can also get full-spectrum multi-directional lights so you can have your very own spa or rave experience, whichever end of the spectrum you want. There are several colors available including lavender, pink, red, green, blue, etc. You can also have tiny bubbles fizzing across the speaker if you want even more of a multi-sensory experience.

The devices themselves are just available in two colorways: white or black. But you have several modes available like Rave Mode, Fun Mode, and Sleepy Mode, all of which you can adjust in the Lush app which also has podcasts and playlists. I don’t get bored when taking a bath but this just take my bathing experience to a whole new level.

]]>

In a world grappling with the environmental repercussions of excessive plastic use, the need for sustainable alternatives has never been more pressing. Packaging waste, predominantly composed of plastic, poses a significant threat to our ecosystems. As we seek innovative solutions for a healthier planet, Philippine creative agency BBDO Guerrero has taken a bold step by sculpting vibrant shampoo bars into Dissolving Bottles, presenting an ingenious solution to the pervasive issue of plastic pollution.

Designer: BBDO Guerrero

The Dissolving Bottle shampoo bars are not just a practical alternative; they are a symbol of commitment to a sustainable and plastic-free future. The concept is simple yet revolutionary – as users lather up and wet the Dissolving Bottle, it gradually diminishes in size until it disappears, leaving no trace behind. This innovative approach eliminates the need for traditional toiletry containers, offering a convenient and eco-friendly solution for daily hygiene routines.

Introduced in 2021, the Dissolving Bottle has recently expanded its reach to several countries in Europe through a partnership with LUORO GmbH, a Cologne-based e-commerce company. The bottle-shaped shampoo bars, distributed under LUORO’s Plain B brand, are not just a visual marvel but also carry a powerful message. By adopting the familiar shape of a typical shampoo container, BBDO Guerrero aims to make the transition from plastic bottles to shampoo bars seamless for users.

David Guerrero, Creative Chairman at BBDO Guerrero, emphasizes that the Dissolving Bottle was conceptualized as a response to the escalating plastic pollution crisis. The personal care industry, a major contributor to environmental issues, produces over 500 billion single-use plastic items annually. To address this problem, BBDO Guerrero chose a design that not only promotes sustainability but also incorporates witty slogans on the shampoo bars, such as ‘Recedes quicker than your hair,’ ‘vanishes into thin air,’ ‘leaves nothing behind,’ and ‘guaranteed not to last,’ serving as comical reminders of the benefits of choosing plastic-free alternatives.

While the environmental impact of Dissolving Bottle Shampoo Bars is undeniably positive, questions arise regarding their commercial viability. The entire bottle serving as solidified shampoo requires careful handling, as exposure to water could initiate premature dissolution. To address this logistical concern, there might be a need to explore alternative packaging materials which will be interesting to learn.

Moreover, the shift from traditional soaps to liquid body washes, driven by ease of use and convenience, poses a challenge for the widespread adoption of solid shampoo bars. The need to incorporate essential information typically printed on packaging into the Dissolving Bottle’s design further adds a layer of complexity.

Marketing strategies play a pivotal role in bridging this gap, and the strategies employed by BBDO Guerrero are commendable and hold the potential to capture consumer attention. Offering an intriguing narrative that aligns with environmental consciousness.

As these Dissolving Bottle shampoo bars make their way into the European market, priced at a reasonable starting point of 5.99 EUR, it remains to be seen whether consumers will embrace this innovative solution to reduce plastic waste. The success of such eco-friendly initiatives depends not only on their environmental benefits but also on their ability to cater to the evolving preferences and habits of consumers. The Dissolving Bottle represents a commendable step towards a more sustainable future, and its journey in the consumer market will undoubtedly be closely watched.

The Future of Oral Care is Here with a 3-in-1 Modular Toothbrush that Brushes, Flosses, and Scrapes

]]>

As a reluctant flosser myself, I admit that it’s difficult to get into those hard-to-reach areas. It’s easy to brush or floss the front teeth but reaching in the back is always challenging because of multiple reasons. You can’t see what’s happening back there, sometimes your mouth doesn’t open wide enough, and even when it does, your fingers or the brush can often induce a gag reflex that just makes the entire process frustrating. Oral care isn’t easy and electric toothbrushes have solved only a third of the problem… which is why the folks behind the OraWand have a better, 3-in-1 solution that takes care of all your oral hygiene needs. Built with a modular design, the OraWand alternates between being an electric toothbrush, flosser, and tongue scraper. Its clever design features easy-to-snap-on biodegradable modules that can be discarded after use, and a narrow form factor that reaches the corners of your mouth without causing you to gag. The electric brush induces 37,000 vibrations per minute, dislodging particles and scraping plaque, while the handheld tongue scraper and flosser (designed to be used without the electric vibrations) give you a 3-in-1 solution that has you covered at all times.

An estimated 3.5 billion people (that’s almost half the world’s population) suffer from bad oral hygiene and oral health-related diseases. This could range anywhere from halitosis (bad breath) to actual problems like cavities or tooth/gum infections, but that’s still a significant chunk of the population we’re talking about. With its ambitious 3-in-1 design, the OraWand hopes to permanently ‘fix’ oral hygiene by being a user-friendly yet tough-on-plaque brush that will take care of all your dental needs. Its design resembles that of an electric toothbrush, but is optimized to clean even the back of your molars with ease thanks to its narrow design. The bristle head is 30% smaller than the one found on regular toothbrushes, helping you surgically reach any area of your mouth, while plastic ridges on the back of the brush help you clean your tongue too, scraping the build-up off it (which dramatically helps improve your breath). Built to be modular, the toothbrush-head can be replaced with a floss-head, turning the OraWand into a flosser that works up to 300% faster than flossing with your hands. Combined, the three features comprise the holy trinity of good dental health.

Powerful, Plaque-cleaning Sweeps

The OraWand looks and feels like any electric toothbrush, but features a few clever details that set it apart. For starters, the bristles on the brush are narrow and compact, letting you easily target areas in between your teeth instead of simply scrubbing the outsides. A motor in the brush’s handle has it vibrating at up to 37,000 times per minute (that’s over 600 times per second) in a 10° sweeping arc to help scrub plaque and dislodge particles from between your teeth.

Gentle, Deep-cleaning Tongue Scraper

The reverse end of the bristles features the OraWand’s tongue scraper, with soft plastic ridges that help scrub your tongue. The OraWand’s 9.4cm (3.7 inch) long stem helps it reach well the back of the tongue too, while the stem’s 3mm (0.1 inch) thick design ensures you don’t gag. Done brushing and tongue, scraping? The OraWand’s brush head can slide all the way down to the handle, allowing you to mount its flossing module.

Fuss-free Flosser that’s 3x Faster

While it’s recommended that we floss regularly, there’s a pretty sizable chance that as you’re reading this, you probably skipped flossing today too (yes, count me in as well). Flossing is simple in theory but difficult in practice. The floss slips from underneath our fingers, and getting the floss to clean the back of our jaws is a herculean task given how difficult it is to open that wide. The OraWand’s clever design lets you slide the brush head away so you can mount its modular flossing attachment in its place. Snap the floss-head on top of the OraWand and it transforms into a flosser that works much more efficiently than using regular floss wrapped around your fingers. The wand’s slender design lets you reach the ends of your mouth without needing to open wide, and once you’re done, the biodegradable floss head can be removed and disposed of.

The OraWand’s design is optimized for travel. Unlike most electric toothbrushes that are designed to perpetually stand on your bathroom countertop, the OraWand features a slim design and a cover cap that allows you to slide it right into a purse, backpack, or travel case. The cover cap also doubles as a floss storage capsule that lets you carry up to 10 floss heads that should easily get you through long holidays with ease! The OraWand comes in two colors – Lavender and Blue Mist, and is available as a $36 bundle that includes the OraWand Brush, Floss Capsule, 30 Floss Heads, and a USB-C Charging Cable to keep your brush’s battery recharged.

Wall-Mounted vs. Floor-Mounted Water Closets: Toilet Trends Today

]]>

When renovating or designing a bathroom, the toilets can be categorized into wall-mounted and floor-mounted WCs. Just like any other fixture or finish selected for new home renovations, toilets come with considerations concerning aesthetics, ergonomics, cost, installation, and maintenance. The choice of wall-mounted or floor-mounted toilet bowls is crucial because it determines the layout of the plumbing. With so many options on the market, choosing the right one can be confusing. Learn the pros and cons of floor and wall toilets, then choose the one that’s right for you. Note that the primary difference between a wall-hung and a floor-mounted toilet is that the tank of a wall-mounted toilet is situated within the wall.

Designer: Zahari Gancheff

Wall-Mounted WC

A wall-mounted WC is fixed to the wall and no part of the WC touches the floor where the cistern is integrated into the wall cavity which houses the plumbing lines. It comprises four sections namely the wall tank that is hidden inside the wall, a flush actuator to control the flow of water, a bowl, and a seat. In addition, it incorporates a carrier in sturdy steel that provides adequate support to the tank and it anchors the bowl. To conceal the carrier, a secondary wall known as a ledge wall is constructed in the bathroom. The best part about wall-mounted toilets is that they do not require a drain in the floor like traditional floor-mounted toilets, making their installation simpler without the need for cutting into the floor.

Designer: Designer: Woodio

Advantages of a Wall-Mounted WC

 • A wall-mounted WC imparts a sophisticated and modern look and fit that enhances the overall aesthetics of the bathroom. It is perfect for a contemporary bathroom décor.
 • The biggest advantage of a wall-mounted WC is that it allows height customization and can be adjusted to suit the specific height requirements of the end user instead of being predefined by the toilet design. This is highly recommended for people with limited mobility. Note that in floor-mounted WCs, the height of each model is fixed, and adjustments cannot be made due to the specific shape and design of the toilet.

Designer: Homary

 • Another plus is that since it is attached to the wall and the tank is concealed within the wall it takes up less space, shows more of the tiles, and creates a visually light and spacious look to the interiors.
 • It conceals the spout and flush unit within the wall and offers a clean and stylish look.
 • Since no floor support in a wall-hung toilet, there is clear space underneath so the bathroom is easier to clean allowing one to easily sweep or mop the area.
 • Some models come with advanced options like a dual flush system, allowing users to save water by selecting between two buttons for flushing different amounts of water as per their requirements.
 • When properly installed, a wall-hung toilet should securely hold up to 200kg. However, it’s important to refer to the product guidelines as per the manufacturers for the accurate weight limit of a particular wall-mounted toilet model.

Designer: Yang Haojing

Disadvantages of a wall-mounted WC

 • However, wall-mounted toilets can be more expensive to purchase and more complicated to install.
 • Note that the installation can be difficult as it requires thicker walls for the tank and flushing system.
 • The installation of wall-mounted WCs requires thicker walls to accommodate their tanks and concealed flushing systems, which can present difficulties in homes where the walls are not thick enough. In such cases, it may be necessary to construct an additional wall or ledge wall to achieve the required thickness for proper installation.
 • Also, the plumbing for the concealed flush plumbing must be integrated before tiling the bathroom.
 • Another disadvantage is that access to the hidden flushing tank for maintenance can be very time-consuming and inconvenient for some. However, wall-hung toilets feature a readily detachable push plate, providing easy access to the mechanisms located behind them.
 • Wall-mounted toilets require regular maintenance as their brackets and bolts may become loose over a while due to continuous usage.

Floor-Mounted WC

Designer: Litfad

In these toilets, the tank is visibly separate from the bowl which is connected directly to the floor and they are securely bolted to the floor for stability. There are generally two types of floor-mounted WCs, an all-in-one is available that combines the flush tank and bottom pan in one and there is a two-piece option, which has a bowl to dispose off the waste and a separate tank to hold the rinse water that is assembled during installation. The two-piece option has two versions to choose from, there is a single flush option that uses the same amount of water for all types of waste and there is also a dual flush option that offers two rinse options to help save water.

Advantages of a Floor-Mounted WC

 • The floor-mounted WC is bolted to the floor, it is affordable in comparison to a wall-mounted WC and is easy to install.
 • Floor-mounted WC does not look sleek and minimalist when compared to wall-hung toilets but they are versatile and best suited for a wide range of bathroom design styles especially for bathrooms with a traditional décor.
 • These WCs are easy to repair as all their components are visible and easy to access. Note that if a part of the toilet is damaged, one only has to replace that part and not the entire toilet which makes it practical to use.

Designer: The Trend Will Out

 • These WCs can be installed before the tiling or after the tiling is complete.
 • Additionally, the plumbing required for a floor-mounted WC is less complex in comparison to the wall-mounted WC.

Disadvantages of a Floor-Mounted WC

 • The floor-mounted WC takes more space than the wall-mounted WC and can make compact bathrooms feel cramped.
 • Another disadvantage is that the cleaning can be tricky as there is limited access to the floor area around the base of the WC especially around the base and where the flush tank connects to the bottom pan. The space between these parts and connectors tends to collect dirt and grime and must be cleaned for sanitation and appearance.
 • Also floor-mounted WCs tend to leak if the surrounding rubber gasket is broken or damaged. Note that attaching or replacing the rubber seal can be difficult, causing inconvenience. Make sure to use spacers or sealant between the toilet screw and the floor to prevent water from entering the floor material.

Designer: Atlan Robotech

Should you go for a wall-mounted or floor-mounted WC?

Designer: Lusso

Selecting the ideal toilet for your bathroom will ultimately depend on your taste. The floor-mounted WC is easy to install and practical but from an aesthetic standpoint, wall-mounted toilets impart a modern appearance. They are highly recommended for compact bathrooms or tricky layouts due to their space-saving design. If the loud noise of a flushing toilet bothers you, a wall-hung toilet might be a good choice. Since the tank is inside the wall, the sound of refilling after each flush is much quieter compared to a floor-mounted toilet, where the tank is located outside, creating noise during the refill. In addition, they are easier to clean. Opt for a model that appeals to you and complements the overall design scheme of your bathroom.

6. Waterfall Sink

Designers: Johan Kauppi and Eumar

The curved trough sink looks graceful and is a perfect fit for a contemporary bathroom when combined with a minimal mirror, as in this example. The water flows through the sink’s slide-like formation to mimic a waterfall. It creates a striking design feature that beautifully complements the terracotta-colored wall.

7. Functional Minimalism

Designer: Matty Design

The minimalist bathroom is elevated by neutral-hued walls while a floating countertop intersects with a section of an oval mirror, which is backlit to create a clean and sublime visual effect. This bathroom is highly functional with provision for a washing machine and adequate shelves for storage.

8. Captivating Sink

Designer: Falper

The mirror-sink unit features an interesting contrast of shapes where the elongated, curvaceous sink visually extends the bathroom. The round mirror complements the organic form of the basin to create an innovative composition.

9. An Organic-shaped Mirror

Designer: Laura Calleeuw

The mirror features an uncommon organic shape and deviates from the conventional circular, square, or rectangular mirror designs. It also complements the monochromatic look of the bathroom decor.

10. Botanical Backsplash

Designer: berg.interior

A composition of three differently-sized circular mirrors on a botanical backsplash in soothing hues adds plenty of character and stands out in the calming beige tones of the bathroom interiors. The touch of gold in the mirror frame, faucets, and hardware infuses a luxurious vibe into the overall look of the bathroom.

11. Tactile Surface

The backlit mirror provides soft, diffused lighting, and the stone-finished back wall adds subdued elegance and a touch of understated glamour. The countertop sits at a lower height, incorporating the sink within a marble cuboid that imbues an organic and earthy charm into the space.

12. Playful Color Scheme

Designer: Ume Illustration

Hues of orange on the countertop and door combine with the green tiled walls to add plenty of color and offer a youthful and trendy look to the overall scheme.

13. Twin Vanity

Designer: Jasmin Kodzha

Twin or shared bathrooms come with generous space and can easily accommodate a twin mirror-sink combo with identical mirrors and sleek storage. Textured marble is used in the backdrop to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal while the jute rug adds a touch of character and completes the ensemble.

14. Sinuous Surfaces

Designer: Zemberek Design

A dramatic contrast is achieved with an oval mirror positioned behind the small round sink and semi-circular countertop. The soothing color palette of earthy green and grey adds to the overall décor while the elevated grey façade strategically incorporates bracket lights and the oval mirror to give the bathroom a distinct character.

15. Bold Contrast

Desginer: Usine Studio

Just see how the black tiles are characterized with a herringbone pattern in white and continue as wall cladding to cover half of the wall and contrast with the burnt orange walls. A red table base supports the stone-finished sink in black and a similar color is used for the minimalistic side table for holding bathroom accessories.

16. Hexagonal Patterns

A floating countertop with provisions for two drawers holds the rectangular over-the-counter sink. Hexagonal tiles in pink hues form the backdrop of the circular mirror and are randomly placed to create an interesting composition against the backdrop of a grey-hued wall.

17. Pastel Hues

Designer: Gemini Tiles

In this pastel-hued bathroom, the double wall is in peach, and the niche is clad in white marble incorporating the mirror-sink unit. A light blue base supports the peach color sink and a circular mirror connects to the double wall with a bluish-grey band. The cactus and succulent add color to the bathroom décor.

18. Earthy Vibes

Designer: Moamen Mahmoud Mano

The bathroom exudes an earthy and warm ambiance and is reminiscent of a spa-like retreat. The unfinished look of the walls beautifully complements the solid wood vanity and incorporates stone finish sinks. Additionally, circular mirrors are fixed within arched niches and visually combine with gold faucets and patterned tiles to add a sophisticated touch.

19. Backlit Onyx

Designer: Antarya Design

Use backlit onyx to enhance the ambiance of the bathroom with a golden touch as the stone’s translucent form radiates warmth. Onyx is a stunning fine-grained stone with distinctive patterns and is available in various shades of yellow, brown, green, black, white, red, and more. Its uniqueness lies in the rich layers and veining naturally formed over millennia via the growth and deposition of silica materials like quartz and moganite.

20. Sophisticated Glamour

In this elegant and modern powder room, the counter’s sleek lines and the captivating illumination along the rim of the egg-shaped mirror form a stunning combination. The dark backdrop behind the mirror, along with the black and white floor patterns, adds gravitas to the overall design of the bathroom.

21. Warmth With Wood

]]>

As dirty grout between tiles can make any kitchen or bathroom look unappealing, it is important to periodically clean the tiles to eliminate mold and mildew and restore the grout to its original condition. Although it is easy to clean tiles, the crisscrossing lines of grout tend to attract moisture-loving bacteria. If one neglects to clean the grout, soap, and shampoo residue or mold and mildew, the color of the grout can change into a blackish tinge. Even in kitchen areas, while mold may be less of a concern, grouting can still look grimy due to splashes of food or washing up liquid.

Designer: The DIY Playbook

What is tile grout?

Tile grout plays a highly functional role as it fills the gaps and seals the joints between the tiles preventing them from shifting from their position or developing cracks. Grout can be classified into cement grout which is a cementitious powder mixture, and epoxy grout which is composed of epoxy resins and a filler powder. Note that the porous nature of cement grout makes it susceptible to water absorption as it develops stains and can get discolored over time, while epoxy grout is more durable and non-porous which makes it highly resistant to stains.

Here are some foolproof methods for cleaning grout in tiles, regardless of their location in your home. These methods are effective in breaking down mold and bacteria and restoring grout to its original sparkly white appearance.

Apply Grout Cleaner

Via: Which?

Use a commercial grout and tile cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the dirty areas of the grout. After cleaning, use a sponge, cleaning rags, or microfiber cloths to rinse and wipe each area. Ensure that no residue from the grout cleaner remains. If you are cleaning grout and tiles on the floor, mop the entire floor when finished.

Use Bleach

Bleach is highly effective for tackling stubborn mold and grime on grout. However, it should be used sparingly and reserved for tough grout stains, as excessive use can cause fading of the grout color. Before starting, ensure good ventilation by opening windows or doors.

There are two methods for using bleach when cleaning grout in tiles. First, you can apply it directly by pouring a small amount into a cup and using an old toothbrush to scrub the grout. An alternative method for cleaning grout in tiles involves creating a paste by mixing bleach and bicarbonate of soda until it resembles toothpaste consistency. Once the paste is ready, apply it to the grout and let it sit for 15 minutes before using an old brush to scrub away the paste and then allow the grout to air dry for a pristine finish.

Use Lemons

Lemons, with their natural acidity, serve as excellent cleaning agents, particularly effective for tackling discolored or stained grout. To use this method, take a fresh lemon and slice it in half, then run the juice along the grout lines. Allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes, and then use a clean toothbrush to scrub the grout. Finally, rinse away the lemon juice with warm water and pat the area dry with a clean towel.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Designer: Family Handyman

For moderate stains on tile grout, spray hydrogen peroxide on the grout lines, scrub with a bristle brush, rinse with warm water, and wipe the surface clean. Alternatively, you can make a paste using hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, apply it to the grout, let it sit for some time, and then clean the grout lines with a brush before rinsing with warm water.

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Via: Iakobchuk

The use of baking soda and vinegar is a highly effective home remedy for removing stains from the tile grout. Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it on the grout lines and then spray a mixture of vinegar and water on the baking soda paste. This will initiate a reaction between both substances and transform into a thick and foamy mixture. After the bubble formation stops, it transforms into a thick foamy mixture. Next, take an old brush and scrub the grout to eliminate the buildup. Finally, rinse it with warm water and complete the cleaning process.

White Vinegar and Water

Designer: Bennian

White vinegar is one of the most effective cleaning agents as it is naturally acidic in nature and inhibits the growth of mold and mildew. Make a solution of equal parts of vinegar and water and spray the solution on the grout lines. Let the solution stay for five minutes and scrub the grout with a stiff brush. Wash the area with warm water and restore the original color of the grout. Make sure to dilute the vinegar in water as vinegar is highly acidic and tends to damage the tile and grout.

Steam Cleaning

Via: Iakobchuk

To steam clean the grout, assemble and load the steam cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions, using only water and avoiding additional chemicals or cleaning solutions. Once the machine has heated up, turn on the steam function and run the cleaning brush along the grout lines, especially on the dirty areas of the grout applying a gentle scrubbing motion as you go. After steam cleaning, the marks should start to lift. Finally, use a rag or mop to thoroughly dry up the residual water.

Warm Water Spray

Designer: Emily Henderson

The gentlest cleaning option for tile grout is using warm water spray. Simply spray the water onto the tiled surface and gently scrub the grout lines using a soft bristle brush. Afterward, wipe the area with a dry cloth.

How to clean stubborn stains from the tile grout?

For old or stubborn stains that regular cleaning can’t remove, create a solution by thoroughly mixing 2 tablespoons of oxygenated bleach into 2 cups of warm water. Test the solution on a hidden area of grout to ensure it won’t cause discoloration. Apply the solution to a small area of stained grout lines, working in small sections and making more solutions as needed. Allow the cleaner to sit for up to 15 minutes to let it work, then scrub and rinse until all the cleaner is removed. Use firm pressure and make several passes over each grout line till the grout is clean.

How to prevent buildup on grout?

Via: minimalistbible

Despite daily efforts, body oils, and soap scum tend to stick to the tile and grout surfaces. To prevent mold and mildew buildup, it is important to clean and maintain the grout lines regularly, ensuring a neat and hygienic surface.

 • To maintain cleanliness and eliminate mold and mildew spores, pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and wipe down the dirty grout and tiles at least once a week.
 • Alternatively, create a paste with baking soda and water, and rub it onto the grout with a grout brush or a used toothbrush at least once in two weeks. Rinse with clean water.

For routine cleaning and maintenance, spray diluted vinegar on the grout at least once a week, and then wipe it with warm water. Additionally, periodic maintenance should involve applying sealers to the grout lines to fill the pores and keep them clean. However, ensure that the grout is completely dry before applying the grout sealer.

I was today years old when I learned that 35% of the ocean’s microplastic problem comes from washing machines. Most of the clothes we wear today have some blend of synthetic fibers that degrade ever so slightly when washed. These microscopic fibers mix in the water and get dumped down the drain, making their way into our oceans, and then into our body through seafood and even salt. Microplastics have reached parts of the body we never thought possible before, like our brain, our reproductive organs, and even fetuses through the placenta. It sounds scary (and it somewhat is), but the folks behind PLANETCARE 2.0 have a simple solution – a microfiber filter attachment for your washing machine.

Designers: Miha Vrhovec and Lenche Gjorjioski

Click Here to Buy Now: $62 $95 (35% off). Hurry, only 122/199 left!

Simply put, PLANETCARE 2.0 is a nifty filter that snaps to the side of your washing machine, filtering all the water the machine drains out after a cycle. Think of the PLANETCARE 2.0 as the water equivalent of you sorting your trash. You wouldn’t throw recyclables along with food waste, would you? So why would you dump microplastics out with your water?

Scientifically Proven – The only microfiber filter that truly stops 98% of fibers.

Tested by 7000+ Users – Their first-generation filter is used by more than 7000 users providing valuable feedback.

Easy to Install – Takes only 10 minutes to install the filter and a minute to change the filter cartridge.

Designed to easily attach to your washing machine in a matter of 10 minutes (you can assemble it yourself without calling a plumber), PLANETCARE 2.0 catches all the microplastics from your washing machine’s drain water, ensuring they never make it to the ocean. An estimated 700,000 tiny fibers shred from your clothes with each wash cycle. Depending on the fabrics you wear, these fibers will include natural materials like cotton, denim, wool, and silk, but also synthetic materials like nylon, polyester, and other fabric blends found in most clothes. PLANETCARE 2.0 catches up to 98% of these microfibers (both natural and synthetic), preventing them from getting carried into our waterways. The result indirectly benefits you, but directly benefits our planet, nature, and the delicate ecosystem of life on Earth. While we can’t easily remove existing microplastics in the world around us, we can easily prevent more microplastics from being added to it.

The PLANETCARE 2.0 is a rather cleverly designed product that tackles the microplastic problem on a whole systemic level. Plug the device into your washing machine and its microfiber filter traps up to 98% of all microscopic fibers in the drain water, without using any electricity. Once the filter reaches its maximum capacity, it pops up to reveal a red-colored ring, letting you know that it’s time to swap out the old filter for a new one. Just take the old filter cartridge out and add a new one in like you would replace batteries on your TV remote. The old filter cartridge can be sent back to the folks at PLANETCARE, who reuse 95% of the cartridge and recycle the remaining 5%, ensuring absolutely zero wastage. The entire circular economy around the filter tackles the microplastic problem on a systemic level, so that you’re not just passing the buck onto the next guy. You’re part of an honest movement to ensure plastics never enter our environment and our bodies again.

First-timers can grab their PLANETCARE 2.0 starter kit for just $62, which includes the device itself along with 3 filter cartridges and a spare drain hose. If you’re a part of the 7000+ users currently using the 1st gen Planetcare filter, you can upgrade to the v2.0 device for $31, with global shipping in December 2023 so you can begin the new year on an eco-friendly note!
